John and Margaret met in 1972 and married the following year.

Margaret’s mother had recently moved to the area and did not have a washing machine. Margaret offered to take her mother to the launderette.

Margaret and John went on to have three children together, who in turn have them three grandchildren.

The secret to their long and happy marriage has been their willingness to give and take.

Despite having different interests and careers, they have always supported each other.

For instance, John was always very supportive of Margaret’s career in singing and dancing, both as a performer and as a teacher.

Margaret also raise money for different organizations through her performances. John often played the drums and sang in the performances like “Fiddler on the roof”.

John’s last job before moving to Hilton Park was a window salesman which he enjoyed very much.

Geanina said that live music at the party was by Debbie Lee.

“Activity lead Jenny requested that John’s favourite song, “Can’t falling in Love with you” by Elvis, be sung during the event, which made everyone emotional,” she said.

Hilton Park care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers. It provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for residents from respite care to long term stays.
