A man was jailed for sexually abusing a child and making and taking indecent images.

A warrant was executed at the home of Grzegorz Szpejankowski, 47, in Parkside, Cambridge, in January 2019 after police received information about indecent images being made online.

Computers were checked and a large number of media files with titles indicative of child abuse were found.

Further investigations found 11 illegal images of Szpejankowski abusing a girl as well as hundreds of other files containing hundreds of indecent images and videos.

On Tuesday, at Peterborough Crown Court, Szpejankowski, was jailed for six years and three months.

He had been found guilty of:

*one count of making indecent photographs of a child

*three counts of taking indecent photographs of a child

*one count of sexual assault of a child under 13

* one count of sexual activity in the presence of a child

* possession of a paedophile manual.

He will also have to spend a further four years on licence, was given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which will last indefinitely and be deported from Britain upon his release from prison.

DC Laura Hutchings said: “Szpejankowski callously sexually assaulted a child and then chillingly made images of these assaults which he kept alongside hundreds of other child abuse images and videos that he had collected.

“It became clear that he had spent a significant amount of time in cataloguing these horrific images for his own gratification.

“This investigation was significant in length due to many complications including having to extradite the suspect from abroad when he fled the country in breach of his strict bail conditions in place at the time.

“Szpejankowski is a danger to society and has showed no remorse during the duration of my investigation and so I am pleased he has been given a custodial sentence and will be closely monitored for the rest of his life.”
