Reduced footfall because of a £8.4m regeneration project has forced a prominent Fenland business to reduce its opening hours.

March Quality Meats announced the new hours in a Facebook post at the weekend.

It means that as well as being closed on a Monday it will not also close its shop on a Tuesday.

However, home deliveries for customers remain unaffected.

March Quality Meats have been in business since 1995 and has built a reputation for quality and pricing. But footfall has been affected by regeneration scheme.

“Unfortunately, due to the ongoing works in town we are having to reduce our shop opening hours,” said the statement.

“Orders for home deliveries on a Tuesday can still be placed on our website

Residents can catch up on progress or discuss issues at a weekly coffee morning with Broad Street regeneration contractors, Octavius.

A Fenland Council spokesperson said: “The coffee mornings offer members of the public the chance to pop in and speak to representatives, who will be on hand to answer any questions residents may have regarding the ongoing town centre regeneration scheme.”

The sessions take place every Thursday from 11am to 1pm at 2 Broad Street (formerly Barclays Bank), March.
