VIDEO: Murder probe at Emneth, Norfolk, 16th century manor house

Banyer Hall, Lady’s Drove, Emneth, a 16th century manor house, is tonight the centre of a murder probe.

The £900,000 home near Wisbech set in four acres is where the body of a woman in her 60s was discovered on Monday morning just before 7.30am.

A man, also in his 60s, remains in custody at King’s Lynn investigation centre where he is being questioned by detectives.

It has not been confirmed if the couple are related.

The house was sold in 2017 for around £600,000 and has been in the same ownership since then.

Norfolk Police are carrying out the investigation.

“A man aged in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder,” said a spokesperson.

“He has been taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning, and he remains in custody.

“An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death.

“A Home Office post-mortem examination is due to be carried out this afternoon.”

It attracted the couple, particularly after they were former parish vicars included the Rev Wilbert Awdry, creator of Thomas the Tank engine.

However, despite being wowed by the ‘handsome, nice big windows’ appeal, the couple bought a home elsewhere.
