Marcela Knight was THREE times over the drink drive limit near Cambridge when she crashed her car as she headed out to collect her three children. PC Ridgeway-Coulson said: “There is no excuse for drink driving and it is lucky that Knight didn’t injure herself or another road user that day.”

A court heard Knight’s driving caused a three-car collision in Milton.

She was driving a red Nissan Leaf and on her way to pick up her children when she failed to break on the A10 near Milton Park and Ride on 11 June and drove into the back of another vehicle which then shunted a third car.

Knight, 43, of Pearson Close, Milton, blew 120 at the roadside, more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.

She went on to provide an evidential reading of 94 in custody.

At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (11 July), Knight was disqualified from driving for two years after pleading guilty to drink driving.

She must also pay a £200 fine.

PC Ridgeway-Coulson said: “We continue to urge motorists to report their concerns around drink and drug drivers across Cambridgeshire so we can make the roads a safer place for everyone.”

Cambridgeshire Constabulary operate a confidential 24/7 hotline for drink and drug drivers on 0800 032 0845.
