Wisbech and Cambridge are next on the list for American burger brand Wendy’s who open their first UK drive-thru at Brampton Hut on Monday.

Opening on 23 January, the new restaurant at the A1/A14 intersection will also feature a separate pick-up window for delivery service providers.

The company says the drive-thru has been part of Wendy’s standard restaurant design for decades, with company founder Dave Thomas introducing the first modern-day drive-thru in 1970.

Paul Hilder, SVP and managing director of Wendy’s Restaurants of UK and Canada, said: “Consumers want easy access to brands they love, and our goal is to offer a variety of quick, convenient ways in which Wendy’s customers can enjoy our freshly prepared, made to order food anytime, anyplace, anywhere.”

The newest Wendy’s restaurant in the UK will be owned and operated by franchisee Blank Table, marking Wendy’s second franchise restaurant in the country.

Blank Table has plans to open more Wendy’s restaurants in the South East region this year, including sites in Wisbech and Cambridge.

Mr Hilder added: “We are incredibly excited to welcome Blank Table to the Wendy’s family. Our relationship with this team will be instrumental in helping us continue to quickly expand and scale our brand presence across the country.”

Since re-entering the UK market in June 2021, Wendy’s operates from more than 25 locations across the country, 12 of which are company-owned and operated restaurants, including locations in Reading, Stratford, Oxford, Croydon, and Romford in 2021, and Camden, Brighton, Ilford, Maidstone, Sutton, Uxbridge, and Kingston in 2022.
