Vulnerable children found at a house in Peterborough has prompted a successful bid by Cambridgeshire police to ban visitors – with key exemptions – for the next three months. “Several vulnerable young people have been found at the address,” said a police spokesperson.

A full closure order was served on 81 Princes Street, Millfield, on June 12 following a successful application at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT).

“The application was made to the court after several vulnerable young people were found at the house, as well as numerous reports from the community regarding anti-social behaviour (ASB) and concerns around drugs use and supply,” said the spokesperson.

The order, which is place until 11 September, states the property is closed to everyone except emergency services, the landlord, the Kenley Group (a supported and semi-independent accommodation provider) and contractors with permission.

“Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both,” said the police spokesperson.

PC Nikki Timms, from Peterborough’s Eastern NPT, said: “Our efforts to tackle the concerns raised to us by the community have been ongoing and further action needed to be taken.

“I hope that this closure order not only provides local residents with reassurance, but also the wider community that we do listen to their concerns and are working hard to protect all members of the areas we police.”

Anyone with information about the order being breached should contact police via the web chat service or online forms at www.cambs.police.uk/report.

Those without internet access should call 101.
