Wisbech technology company Anglia Components plc officially opened phase 2 of its expanded distribution centre in the town following a £2 million investment.

It will also be recruiting 30 more workers.

The opening ceremony was attended by Frank Wolinski, regional vice president of Channel Sales at STMicroelectronics, one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers which Anglia has worked closely with for over 20 years.

The major investment has allowed Anglia to add an adjoining building to its distribution and operations centre, increasing the area from 43,000 sq. ft. to 70,000 sq. ft.

The new facility expands the overall inventory storage space by 40%.

Anglia will also be recruiting 30 new staff to its sales, technical, operations and logistics teams, most of which will be local to the Wisbech area.

The measures are part of a plan to grow the business from the current level of close to £100 million, to £150 million and beyond.

Anglia celebrated 50 years trading in Wisbech in 2022 and more than 100 of its 150-strong team are based there.

Steve Rawlins, CEO of Anglia, said: “Anglia has achieved a compound annual growth rate of 25% over the last two years despite the challenges in the global economy and in the industry.

“We now plan to grow further. We have scaled up our distribution centre to allow us to continue to increase our inventory levels as our business expands.”

Mr Wolinski said: “I am honoured to have been invited to open this new building, a key point in Anglia’s history. Anglia has been our Demand Creation Distributor of the Year for two years running.

“Their strong team work exceptionally hard to develop opportunities with customers.

“The expanded facility in Wisbech means that they can continue to hold the levels of inventory needed to support customers once these projects go into production.

“I wish Anglia every success in their continued growth and look forward to playing a central part in their plans.”

Headquartered in Geneva, STMicroelectronics is among the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers, delivering solutions that enable smarter mobility, more efficient power and energy management, and the wide-scale deployment of the Internet of Things and 5G technology.
