A man jailed in 2019 for 12 years and described as a “career burglar who has caused untold misery, hurt and pain to many victims”, has failed to return to an open prison after day release. Thames Valley Police is appealing for help in tracing Edward Parker, 39, formerly of Kirkmeadow, Peterborough.

He absconded from HMP Springhill, a men’s open prison in the village of Grendon Underwood, Buckinghamshire.

“Parker is a white man, at around 5ft 7ins tall and of average build. He has short brown hair, blue eyes, and a scar on his left lower arm,” says Thames Valley Police.

“He was wearing a green ribbed puffer-jacket, a navy jumper, light grey Puma tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.”

He is known to frequent the Chesterton and Peterborough areas of Cambridgeshire.

Police Staff Investigator Claire Busby said: “We are appealing to the public for any information around Parker’s whereabouts, or anyone who may see him to get in touch.

“We would advise members of the public not to approach him if they see him but call 999 immediately.

“Or if you have information as to where he might be or have previously seen him please contact Thames Valley Police on 101 quoting 43240043014.

“If you do not wish to speak to police you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and they will take your information anonymously.”

In May 2019 he was jailed at Lincoln Crown Court.

One of the investigating officers, DC Andy Macdonald, said after his conviction: “Parker is a career burglar who has caused untold misery, hurt and pain to many victims across several counties.

“I would like to thank the victims for their time and strength in completing impact statements, which were heard in court to provide some insight into how Parker has affected their lives.

“I’m pleased the sentence handed out at court reflects this impact.”
