Two men from Sawtry have been convicted of dealing class A drugs across Peterborough.

Police carried out warrants at Beeston Drive in Park Farm and Sunnymead in Werrington on 18 September 2020.

While the Beeston Drive address was clear of drugs, 37-year-old Marc Parsell was found inside who told officers they would find drugs inside a yellow sports bag in the bedroom of his then-home in Sunnymead.

Low and behold, officers searching the Sunnymead house found a bag containing 38 zip-lock bags and two golf ball sized wraps of cocaine worth more than £10,000 on a shelving unit in a bedroom, as well as another bag containing £3,615 in cash.

Also, inside the Sunnymead house was Parsell’s friend, 29-year-old Sam Boalch, who claimed he was just there to look after Parsell’s puppies.

Forensic analysis of the drugs packaging came back with DNA matches for both Parsell and Boalch, who were later charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, which they admitted in court.

The pair, both of Green End Road, Sawtry, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday (3 November) where Parsell was sentenced to two years and four months in prison.

Boalch was handed one year and eight months in prison, suspended for two years, however he must complete 200 hours of unpaid work and a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

PC Louise Ashworth, who investigated, said: “This was a significant find by the Neighbourhood Support Team who have removed yet more class A drugs from our streets.

“Alongside our own intelligence, information from our communities is vital in helping us disrupt drug dealing in our county, therefore my plea is for members of the public to keep reporting concerns to us.”

Tackling drug dealing in various areas across Peterborough is a priority for the neighbourhood policing teams, amongst other things.

Information from the public can greatly assist in combating the issue, there anyone with concerns or information about drugs is urged to report online here.
