Two stolen cars and a stolen telehandler were used for a ram raid in the early hours of today on a village shop in South Cambridgeshire.

“This is the devastation in Bassingbourn High Street this morning after a ram raid took place in the early hours,” said a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police.

“We were called at 3.33am to the Spar shop on Bassingbourn High Street.

“A group of at least three men targeted the ATM at the store using two stolen vehicles – a Mitsubishi L200 stolen last night and an Audi RS6, also stolen from our county. The group also used a stolen telehandler.”

Police said they were remaining in the area to enable specialists to “preserve evidence”.
