20 trees in four open spaces planted by Huntingdon town council

Twenty new trees have popped  across Huntingdon.

The trees have been planted at Claytons Way, near Huntingdon Gymnastics Club, at Castle Hills open space, at KGV Sapley Road Park and at Bloomfield Park in the Town.

The trees consist of Limes, Cherry, Birch, Hornbeam and Whitebeam Centre.

The Huntingdon Town Council Estate Services team have worked with Huntingdonshire District Council’s Arboriculture team who donated the trees, with both teams joining together to plant the trees.

The trees consist of Limes, Cherry, Bir Peter Haynes, Head Groundsman at Huntingdon Town Council said: “We’re pleased that we have been able to work with Huntingdonshire District Council to improve the biodiversity of Huntingdon. Trees offer such a benefit to residents and wildlife, and we hope to continue working to increase the number of trees in our town.”

Executive Councillor for Leisure, Waste & Street Scene at Huntingdonshire District Council, Cllr Simone Taylor, said: “It has been great to work with Huntingdon Town Council on this project to introduce new trees to the town.

“The planting of these trees will improve the biodiversity of the area and provide real benefits for nature. The donation of trees is something we are pleased to be able to do, and we hope that residents will enjoy the benefits this investment will bring.

“If any other Town or Parish councils are exploring tree planting initiatives in their area, please feel free to contact the District Council to see how we may be able to support you.”
