Students from Impington Village College and its sixth form, Impington International College enjoyed a series of dance workshops and a live performance delivered by London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) – The Place.

The workshops were led by students studying at LCDS including Impington International College alumna, Elly Trent, and were overseen by former Impington Village College student and current CEO of LCDS, Clare Connor.

Following the workshops, around 50 LCDS students staged a number of performances that have featured on stages across the country including 13 by Yolande Yorke Edgell, She Pained Flowers by James Cousins and Part 2 Out of Many by Fubunation.

Orris Gordon, assistant director of performance at Impington International College, said: “The workshops delivered by LCDS have been fantastic for our students to take part in.

“We have a robust and versatile performance school programme available to everyone studying at the college and I am so pleased to have been able to showcase some of the post-college pathways available to our current students.

“Dance as a subject is about so much more than just dancing; it helps our students to develop their communication skills, take risks and approach situations with an open mind – important characteristics that contribute to their International Baccalaureate learner profiles.”

He added: “Our partnership with LCDS has been key to facilitating the workshops and I’d like to thank former student and current CEO of LCDS, Clare Connor, for helping to inspire the next generation of passionate dancers.”
