Two super-sized Star Wars paintings, each 1m x 1.3m in size and created by local artists Nathan Murdoch and Tony Nero, are to be sold by auction to support charity.

The artwork was created during an ‘Art Wars’ event on Peterborough Cathedral green.

“Despite battling gale force winds and having to weigh down their easels with heavy rocks and even willing friends, Nathan and Tony were troopers and did us proud,” said a cathedral spokesperson.

“Pitting the spray can against the brush, both artists spent most of the day perfecting their pieces, chatting to interested spectators and inspiring locals, even letting some of the younger visitors make their own contributions to the canvases.

“Several artists brought their easels and worked alongside them, while local children created their own fantastic artworks at a craft station inside the cathedral shop.”

Peterborough Cathedral says the pieces are now available for auction with proceeds going to Nathan and Tony’s chosen local charity, Young Persons Counselling Service.

YPCS is a child and adolescent counselling/mental health charity providing free counselling to children aged 11-18yrs, operating from 3 nearby locations, Yaxley, Whittlesey & Ramsey.
