“We expect river levels to remain high during this period,” says an Environment Agency notice.

“Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are closely monitoring the situation.”

The Environment Agency says it is liaising with Cambridgeshire highways.

“River level currently at 2.34m, a bit of a flow over the road in one place about 2m in width (no more than 1 inch depth) with ponding on the side slightly less than this morning”.

The post adds: “Sutton Gault upstream is still rising having gone up around 25cm since last night so we expect Welney to follow, we will try and get an early post out in the morning for those that will be wanting to cross.”
