‘Wisbech rocks’ says Mayor Susan Wallwork – and it did on Saturday to the tune of £4,1650.

That is the astonishing sum raised by the inspirational mayor from a charity bingo night.

For weeks Cllr Wallwork had been collecting prizes and publishing the event in aid of the mayor’s two chosen charities.

The town and surrounding businesses did not fail her.

Dozens of gifts were offered both as bingo prizes and for a raffle.

“To every single business/person who donated, supported and or attended, thank you,” said Cllr Wallwork.

“You all helped raise £4165.50

“A special heart felt thank you goes to Betty Cunningham and her merry team of helpers, which included her partner Joe, their girls and Stevie, they all put in a 110% today for the charities and I can’t put into words how grateful I am.”

£4,1650 -the astonishing sum raised by the inspirational mayor of Wisbech from a charity bingo night.

She added: “Wisbech Tweet, a huge thank you! You have worked so hard to support this bingo, your efforts do not go unnoticed and are so very appreciated.”

The mayor said the money raised is being split between her chosen charities, young people’s counselling (Annabelle Davis Centre) and the Alan Hudson treatment centre.

The Annabelle Davis Centre was opened in the town this year.

It is a child counselling charity committed to providing one-to-one sessions with fully qualified counsellors.

The mayor added her grateful thanks to Toni Bird, fundraising coordinator at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.

“Wisbech absolutely rocks when it comes to pulling together and helping those in need,”, said Mayor Wallwork.

The bingo night was held at the Queen Mary Centre.
